Coca Cola is a beverage that very common in Hong Kong, or even in the world. However, I do not obsess with it, indeed, I was allergic to Coca Cola. Before I did not know the reason, but now I think I can explain it by using theories about different types of learning in psychology.
There was a time before I reject to the world most famous drinks. I love to drink Coca Cola that time. The dark colored liquid with bubbles floating as well as the smell of coke reminded me how good the taste of Coca Cola, made me became thirsty and wanted to drink it.
It is an example of classical conditioning, a type of associate learning. The appearance and the smell of coke were supposed not stimulate me to have any response, it is a natural stimulus(NS). Yet is the taste of the soft drinks cause me willing to drink it. Since it is a stimulate naturally lead to an automatic response, as well as the response is natural, they are unconditioned stimulus(UCS) and response (UCR). In addition, I associated the smell and the taste of the coke (connected one stimulus with another one), so the smell of the coke also has motivation on me to have the drinks. The doctor gave me a liquid medicine in order to inhibit the cough. The color of the medicine was dark in color, and had a very strong smell which were very similar to the smell of Coca Cola. In view of the smell were identical to me, I expected it would be tasteful too and drunk it without any thinking.
